Leaving Jaipur now with a driver call Virenda Singh and travelling towards Jodpur. We had put into our travel plan a stop at Puskar. This is where they hold large camel fayres and there is also a lake where blessings take place.
We did have a stop at a cremation lake on the way. This is a place Cremations take place and the ashes offered to the lake. Various family symbols for the dead were laid in the garden area. Luckily no bodies but very sobering place.
Arriving at Puskar we set off walking towards the lake. Dressed camels were in waiting for a soft tourist who were willing to put on a turban and hop on board. Ridden camels else where and never again. 😉😬
Many interesting stalls lined the route selling an assortment of wares. We found it fascinating that the most prominent of stalls were selling large ceremonial swords and knives. The colours in the outfits on offer were startling and made it for a very colourful walk to the entrance to the lake. Had a good bit of barter on the way. We were given flower petals on route and I went down the steps and put them into the lake. Wether it was the right thing to do not sure but that was my blessing. People were sitting crossed legs, next to the lake, in little groups ringing bells and lighting little torches. Worshipping of gods is taken very seriously here. Keith went to give a donation armed with his 100rs (£1.00) where it took some persuasion for them to take it or nothing. Def not the 2000 Rs they were asking for. 😉🙃.
Very mountainous area here which reminded us of our travels in Morocco. Back on track to Jodpur and looking forward to seeing the Step Tower market there. Still a couple of blogs to come before we are home but prob going to appear after we are in dear old Blighty and the cold. Brrrr just to think of it. 🙁. Ps. We are home but still got a couple of blogs to sort.
